The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn serving students of Light both in California and around the world is an expression of the deeper mysteries of Light and Self Mastery. We are blessed to serve student in California with Sanctuaries and Study Groups in both large cities such as L.A. and small towns around the state. We are extremely active in developing a strong Golden Dawn community in California.
In 1888, three high ranking Adepts of the Western Mystery Tradition formed the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn (E.O.G.D.). Around the turn of the century, a series of events culminated in the revolt of the Adepti of the E.O.G.D. and the illusionary expulsion of MacGregor Mathers who at this time was the only remaining founder. ( Lower members cannot expell the Chief Adept of the Order, then can leave, but it would not be the same Order. There is a serious spiritual danger is joining a group founded by revolted or schismatic members.) The remaining Adepti continued the Order as the “Stella Matutina” (with the support of one of the founders, William Wynn Westcott) and MacGregor Mathers went on to reformulate the Order as the “Rosicrucian Order of the Alpha et Omega”. ( Not to be confused with any group using that name today.) Much of this has been documented by R.A. Gilbert and we direct those interested in such to the published works.
It is sufficient to state for the purpose of this introduction, the original stream of the E.O.G.D. and its two branches have continued to this day. The Founders of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn (E..O.G.D.), have been personally trained by the leaders of each in fully operating Esoteric Orders. The spiritual lineage of McGregor Mathers continues. The Magic of Light that an initiate expects is found in our Order. The Work of the E.O.G.D. includes and expands upon the work of the three encompassing the highest grades of the Golden Dawn and Rosicrucian Tradition.
All candidates for Initiation into the E.O.G.D. must complete the Outer Order grade of the Golden Dawn. Our testing is detailed, as we want only serious student who desire to learn the Magic of Light and Self Mastery.
Membership. The E.O.G.D., as a vehicle for the True and Invisible Rosicrucian Order. Unlike some groups who claim lineage in California, we do not spoon feed our members. We hand you the entire grade materials at one time. This includes audio files etc.
Currently we offer Initiation to people living anywhere in the state of California. Membership does not requires a monthly attendance Unlike some lodges, we are not recruiting for a social club.
BEFORE YOU JOIN ANY TEMPLE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, ASK WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THEY INITIATED SOMEONE INTO THE INNER ORDER?
You will soon discover that unless you are wife of an adept within the Temple or donating tons of extra money to pay the rent, you will likely not be invited into their second or inner Order. The reason is simple, they are focused on building a social network of people who will pay them $20.00 a month. This is NOT what Golden Dawn membership should be about. This is NOT what the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn in California is about, Period!
The astral component of our rituals is a critical aspect, and the candidate need not be physically present at our Initiation and Grade Rituals.
